GENERAL INFORMATION

Sunday, Feb. 1

  • Road conditions have vastly improved today and most primary, secondary and neighborhood roads are clear, with the exception of some shaded spots that Public Works plans to clear tomorrow. However, with temperatures dropping back into the teens tonight, any moisture remaining on the roads will refreeze and create slick conditions, so please exercise caution if you need to drive after dark.
  • Committee Meetings will take place at 6 pm at City Hall as scheduled. Public Safety and Public Works committees are scheduled to meet.

Saturday, Jan. 31

  • As of Saturday night, temperatures have dropped into the teens and slush from the snow has turned into a solid sheet of ice, creating extremely hazardous conditions. Unfortunately, too many people are still out driving, and they’re sliding all over the roadways. A fire hydrant on Fowler Circle was struck, and water is leaking onto the road. The Mauldin Police Department has shut down one lane of Fowler so drivers will be able to go around. For your own safety as well as the safety of first responders and other drivers, we ask that you please stay home and stay off the roads.
  • Due to unsafe road conditions, the Mauldin Police Department will not dispatch officers to non-injury, single-vehicle collisions. Drivers involved in a single-vehicle crash with no injuries should complete an accident report form and provide it directly to their insurance company. The link to do so is here.
  • MPD is STRONGLY urging the public to stay off the roads. Visibility is poor and steadily worsening, and streets are becoming slick as snow freezes on the road surface, creating hazardous conditions. Police officers are working collisions and have been nearly struck by cars sliding on the street, so for everyone’s safety, please avoid driving and stay home.
  • Public Works crews have been treating primary roads including E. Butler Rd and HWY 276, and SCDOT is out plowing in the City.

ROAD/TRAIL/BRIDGE CLOSURES

  • As of Sunday, Feb. 1, Ashmore Bridge Road between Sonoma Drive and Fowler Circle has reopened. Public Works treated the area in addition to clearing snow throughout the City.
  • As of Sunday, Feb. 1, City parks, trails and the Mauldin GateWay Bridge remain closed until staff have a chance to inspect them and ensure their safety.
  • As of Saturday morning 1/31, Ashmore Bridge Road between Sonoma Drive and Fowler Circle is closed. Please do not drive around the barricades that are set up there.
  • As of Saturday morning 1/31, all City parks and trails and the Mauldin GateWay Bridge are closed until further notice.

FACILITY CLOSURES

  • City offices including City Hall, the Mauldin Cultural Center, Mauldin Sports Center and Ray W. Hopkins Mauldin Senior Center will open at 10 am on Monday, 2/2.
  • The Mauldin Sports Center will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

SERVICE UPDATES & CANCELLATIONS

  • Preliminary hearings scheduled for Municipal Court on Monday 2/2 have been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled.
  • Trash pickup will run on Monday 2/2, beginning at approximately 9 am to allow the roads some time to thaw, and will run on a regular schedule for the rest of the week.
