The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Mauldin by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
Noting this is the 15th year in a row the City of Mauldin has received this award Mayor Dennis Raines stated, “This Council has a strong commitment to effective fiscal management and financial transperency to our Citizens. I commend our Finance Director, Holly Abercrombie, and all our staff for their performance in this area and adhering to this philosophy.”
“The standard for the City of Mauldin was set many years ago and we intend to continue to achieve this award and demonstrate to our citizens our commitment to transparency and accountability and being good stewards of our taxpayers dollars” stated City Administrator Trey Eubanks.
The City of Mauldin is located in the Upstate of South Carolina and in the heart of Greenville County. It is the 17th largest city in South Carolina and one of the fastest growing cities in the state. Mauldin was first charted in 1820 and has grown to a population of nearly 25,000.
