The Mauldin Cultural Center and the Greater Mauldin Chamber of Commerce are partnering together and with several local organizations to bring “Mauldin’s 12 Days of Christmas” to the community. This new holiday program will feature events every day running December 1 through December 12 at the Mauldin Cultural Center.
“The Chamber already hosts a community tree lighting, a parade, and breakfast with Santa each year, and they’re always a success,” says executive director Pat Pomeroy. “So we thought, ‘Why not expand the holiday festivities?’”
Families can spend the first five days at Santa’s log cabin workshop to tell him what they want for Christmas and to have their photo taken by ProShots Studios. On December 11, they will also enjoy hot cocoa, train rides and a showing of The Polar Express at the Cultural Center’s outdoor amphitheater.
“With the amount of youth we see coming to the Mauldin Cultural Center every day for classes and the turn out we receive from the annual Train Show, additional family activities just makes sense – especially around the holidays,” says Keira Kitchings, director of the Mauldin Cultural Center.
The center offers classes in vocal arts, guitar, youth cooking, and woodcarving, to name a few, and you can get a taste of what those classes are like according to the “12 Days” line up. On December 8, guitar students will host their winter showcase, and vocal students will host a Christmas performance on December 9. A holiday woodcarving class and baking class are also on the schedule.
But don’t worry, there will be plenty of activities for those who want just a little more adult time before school’s out, including a holiday reception and a spirits tasting.
