Plans are in the works to build a new Greenville County library branch along Woodruff Road in the fast-growing Five Forks area, the final piece of a building program that began two decades ago.
County Council has given the library system approval to buy 9.9 acres on Sunnydale Drive to build a new branch to serve the East Woodruff Road area.
At about 30,000 square feet, the new building would be twice the size of the system’s 10 other regional branches, said Beverly James, executive director of the library system.
“We have a lot of population to serve,” she said. “Plus, it allows us to accommodate the projected population growth.”
There would be room to expand the branch by an additional 15,000 square feet.
