Destination Mauldin: City wants to keep shoppers local

"Affordability and a supportive business environment have made Mauldin, historically a bedroom community for Greenville, a magnet for a handful of creative entrepreneurs.

Business owners say Mauldin's low rents, less than a quarter of going rates in downtown Greenville, are key while at the same time the five-minute drive to the interstate and 10-minute drive from Greenville grant quick access to customers. 

The city of Mauldin's economic development team, recognizing these advantages, is  taking steps to keep shoppers inside city limits — and maybe draw in a few from outside."
