US 276 Main Street Improvement Plan

View the complete summary report of the Mauldin Main Street Plan by LandDesign.

Mauldin developed as a city without a defined central city or downtown. This occurred because the city experienced very little growth prior to the 1950s, and suburban shopping centers on wide highways were replacing traditional downtown style development by the time the city began growing significantly.

The Main Street Plan aims to create a more functional and attractive gateway to Mauldin, and will include the following elements:

  • landscaping plan for the corridor;
  • traffic flow improvements;
  • improved street network connectivity;
  • improved conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists;
  • accommodations for future regional mass transit services;
  • opportunities for new development and redevelopment; and,
  • design standards that help create a stronger sense of place.

The company LandDesign has been brought in to design and implement the plan for the City of Mauldin. They have provided several maps, cross sections, and many other images that detail what the new Mauldin Main Street will look like upon completion.
