Dennis Raines

Mayor

Mayor Dennis Raines service to the City of Mauldin includes a wide variety of different disciplines. His first service to the community began as a Volunteer Fireman for thirteen years. He has also served as President of the Mauldin Dixie Youth program for six years and on the Mauldin City Council from 1996-2001 where he chaired the Finance and Policy Committee for his last four years on Council.

Dennis is a native of Spartanburg County where he was born and raised on a small farm. He graduated from Greenville Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and continued his education at Limestone College where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree as an Honors Graduate also in Business Administration.

Dennis’s professional career included twenty-six years at Kemet Electronics where he served in various management positions in supervisory functions and staff management positions that included Production Manager and Plant Cost Accountant. He currently serves as the Business Administrator of Mauldin First Baptist Church and Mauldin Christian Academy in the capacities of charge of finance, facilities and administrative personnel.

Dennis’s most rewarding community achievement has been that of serving as Director/Founder of the Mauldin Miracle League for seven years. The Mauldin Miracle League is a baseball program for children with disabilities in which the motto is "Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball."

In his forty one years as a resident of the City of Mauldin Dennis has served his community in some capacity for thirty one of the forty years. He truly believes that government’s biggest challenge today is to live within its means while providing customer-oriented services in a cost effective manner.

Dennis has been a resident here in Mauldin for forty one years and married to his wife Cathy for forty years. They have two sons, Travis and wife Evie and Tyler and his wife Emily along with four grandchildren.

Patricia Gettys

Seat 1

Councilwoman Patricia Gettys is serving her first term in office. She has lived in Mauldin for the past 22 years, except for 4 years spent living in France.

Patricia earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Clemson University in all areas of Special Education. She taught at Pendleton Elementary School for 10 years.

Mrs. Gettys is a board member for both the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club. She is the Founder and current president of the non-profit Aquatic Alliance of Greater Greenville and the President of South Carolina Swimming Coaches Association.

Councilwoman Gettys has been married for 30 years to husband Terry. They have three sons Andrew, Mark, Keith and a daughter-in-law Katherine. All three sons graduated from Mauldin High School.

Bob Cook

Seat 2Bob Cook

Councilman Bob Cook has served on Mauldin City Council since January 2004. he is a native of Greenville and was a member of Greenville County Council for twelve years. Mr. Cook is a graduate of Parker High School. He retired from his professional career and is now a public servant.

Councilman Cook serves on Mauldin City Council because he enjoys "being involved in making a better community, and planning for a prospering future."

Councilman Cook is married to Faye Cook and, together, they have two daughters, Janice Johnson and Kim Black.

Gabe Hunter

Gabe Hunter

Councilman Gabe Hunter has served on Mauldin City Council since 2006. Previously he served on the Planning Commission for 6 years.

Gabe is a Florida native who earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Furman University and a Master's of Business Administration degree from Furman/ Clemson Universities. 

A true public servant, Gabe serves Mauldin to "give back to my community and make a difference for the future of our community." His industrial  experience is an asset in Mauldin's " leadership and planned development."

Gabe is active in community activities. He was the first liaison between Mauldin Key Club and the parent Kiwanis Club of Mauldin. He currently is a volunteer with the Mauldin High School track team as a coach of the throwers. He also serves as a board member of the Upcountry History Museum.

Gabe has resided in Mauldin for 25 years. He is married to Beverly Hunter and they have two daughters, Catherine Frederick and Elizabeth Gardner.

Scott Crosby

Seat 4

Councilman Scott Crosby began his first term in January, 2012. His election culminates an interest in American politics that began when he was ten years old.

A resident of Mauldin since 1994 and the Greenville area since 1978, Scott makes his living as a systems analyst. He is a 1974 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Scott and his wife Rhoda were married Thanksgiving Day, 2002. They enjoy ballroom dancing, playing bridge, and especially flying in their Cessna; Scott has had his pilot's license since 1986. 

His interest planning and finance reflects his desire to help build Mauldin as a community with a responsible, affordable government, where a family can live, work, shop, and play in a relaxed, enjoyable environment.

Dale Black

Seat 5Dale Black

Councilman Dale Black was first elected to Mauldin City Council in 1989 and then, after a brief departure, again in January 2006. Councilman Black has called Mauldin home since the early 1970’s. He chairs the Fire standing Committee.

Councilman Black is a Danville, Illinois native but attended both Parker High School and Greenville Technical College. He retired in 2000 from Southern Bell Telecommunications, AT&T and Lucent after 36 years of service.

Councilman Black sees the value in making time invested choices for the City of Mauldin. Only after researching and "getting the facts" on a subject, will he cast his vote. He enjoys "serving the people of Mauldin" and strives "to make good honest decisions in every vote." He serves on Mauldin City Council to "have a voice in the direction that our good city is heading."

The city of Mauldin has been good to Councilman Black and he tries to "give back to the people some of the things that they have given" to him and his family. Councilman Black is a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church and a member of Wade Hampton #404 Masonic Lodge. He has been married to Judy Black since 1966 and together they have two daughters, Heather Black Hunter and Dana Black Moore, a grandson, Jackson Hunter and two granddaughters, Jordan and Hailea Moore.
