The Mauldin Police Department is an award winning and valuable asset to the local community. The Municipal Assocation of South Carolina awarded the Mauldin Police Department with the 2010 Public Safety Award. In 2008, the Mauldin Police Department was recognized for excellent DUI Enforcement from the 13th Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Team. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) also recognized the department for their efforts in DUI arrests. The AAA Carolina Motor Club Foundation for Traffic Safety has named Mauldin an "Outstanding South Carolina Traffic Safe Community" in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. The department has gone above and beyond the traditional law enforcement role by becoming active within the community and engaging youth in civil service. In the summer of 2008, the Mauldin Police Department hosted a Youth Academy for boys and girls. The program allowed students to experience many aspects of a career in law enforcement. Daily workouts, tests, training, and evaluations tested the mental and physical endurance of those enrolled in the academy. Upon completion of the program, students were recognized before the Mauldin City Council for their achievements. The program was a huge success and will continue in the summer of 2009.
The Mauldin Police Department is separated by 8 divisions; Animal Control, Investigations, K-9, Patrol, Property/Evidence, School Resource Officer, Traffic Safety Unit, and Training. - National Night Out Police Community Partnerships - Mauldin received the National Award 2004 for their Outstanding Participation in 'America's Night Out Against Crime'. The award was presented by NATW National Association of Town Watch to Mauldin, SC.

- NHC HealthCare - Mauldin Police Department was presented an award for their Continuing Contribution to the community.
2001
- Knollwood Community - A local Mauldin community recognized the Mauldin Police Department for their "Faithfulness in Serving and Protecting the Community."
- Buck-A-Cup to Brace-A-Child- Mauldin Police Department was recognized for having the highest percent increase in participation for a medium sized community.
2000
- South Carolina Broadcasters Association, WFIS Radio- Mauldin Police Department received an Award of Merit for Public Service Participation in "Crime Solutions."
