Building & Zoning
Welcome to Mauldin’s Building and Zoning Department! Below you will find a list of the department's functions. In the Building and Zoning Section of the website, there is information on the Mauldin Municipal Code, Permits & Fees, Annexation & Rezoning, Business Licenses, International Property Maintenance Code and the Planning Commission.
The Building and Zoning Department performs the following functions:
- Review building plans for compliance with Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fuel Gas, Energy Efficiency, Accessibility Code requirements, and applicable State and Federal requirements
- Verify and enforce appropriate state licensing of contractors, business license, impact fees, and building permits (i.e. grading, landscaping)
- Conduct inspections of new construction or renovations
- Administer the City's Business License Program
- Receive and process hospitality and accommodation tax revenue
- Provide administrative services to the Buiding and Zoning Board of Appeals
- Provide guidance to annexation or rezoning applicants
- Work with the Greenville Area Development Corportation, Mauldin Chamber of Commerce and other entities to help find suitable locations for new businesses, and to provide information about businesses that might be approached for the purpose of recruitment and economic development
Staff currently consists of one Business License Specialist, one Permit Specialist, one Zoning and Property Standards Inspector, one Combination Inspector, one part-time Plan Reviewer and the Building and Zoning Director.
